Stars you can count on one hand
Lucky's Chronicles are fictional stories set in the world of iLuckyStones.
The fifth Field was red, and so was Lucky.
This time it wasn't surprised: it had worked out that every Field gave it new clothes. Instead, it looked around. There were small red squares, as still as stones planted in the ground, and lots of thin blue walls pointing in every direction. These too, like in the previous Field, moved every time.
Then it saw it. Up high, still, shining: a star.
Lucky shot off like a rocket. Stars were the most precious thing in the Field: each one was worth two lives, and after the Field with no stars it badly needed some. But halfway there it bumped into a blue wall, went round a red square, and when it arrived the star was gone. Stars only stay still for a few seconds, then they go out.
«That's not fair!» said Lucky.
A pink drop nearby giggled. Lucky glared at it, and the presence from above cleared it away with a light touch.
That's when an old stone, half buried in a corner, spoke. «Stars here can be counted on one hand,» it said. «Five fall, not one more. Chase them all in a rush and you lose them. Wait for them, and they come.»
Lucky gave it a try. It stopped chasing every light. It stayed in the middle of the Field, where the paths were clearer, collecting yellow drops and flashing cubes. And when the next star appeared, it was already just two rolls away.
One. Then another. Then another. It didn't get all five, but it got the right ones.
The black spikes, meanwhile, kept darting about. But Lucky had more lives than before, and above all more calm.
At forty thousand the Field opened. The glowing words seemed to have been written by the old stone:
Patience will be your strength.
To be continued in the next episode.
Level 5: at most five stars appear in each level, and each one is worth two lives. Can you wait for them?
